Inkfish Capital wanted some creative headshot photography of their CEO in line with their social impact brand. We spent a fun time at Hove beach huts, with the locals spending time talking with us. Inkfish are property specialists who create social impact housing schemes to help the most vulnerable in society. Studio Gobo and Electric Square held their summer party at Mac’s Farm, their event photography was so much fun to capture. For these fun events, the Canon 16-35mm f2.8 ii adds a lot of dynamic storytelling to the photos, I used the 70-200 f4 to grab some ninja shots when people know that a photographer isn’t too near them. I used a smoke machine and fabric on this recent collaboration with Emily Pocock, a young Brighton musician, to create atmospheric imagery for her music. Emily also has trained in dance, which added great movement to the shoot. I made a playist of music she liked in advance, so she had a good atmosphere to work with. Dark Rust is a minimal, darkwave musician who needed atmospheric photography to reflect his style of music. I used UV lighting, paint and tape in the studio to evoke the feeling of his music. I used 2x UV LED Blacklights, one above the camera light the keyboard, the other behind the musician, backlighting the smoke. I photographed the colourful delight that is James Gasson’s refurbed Third Circle Recordings, a music recording/rehearsal studio in Brighton. The property photography took 4hrs+ to capture the various lighting set ups and the composites. The wide shots were photographed with a 16mm at f8 400 ISO, with various shutter speeds to accommodate the practical tungsten bulbs that were there. Yamee is Brighton’s latest offering on the foodie scene. Their Caribbean food photography had to look as delicious and fresh as it tasted, so I shot downstairs in the Coopers Cask pub in Hove whilst they prepared the food in the upstairs kitchen.
