During the first lockdown, Dreams of Empire, an indiepop Brighton band, wrote a new album. They needed some creative band photography for all their marketing and we devised a shoot based on their colourful and calming music.
The band were photographed in front of a white backdrop using 2 x large soft boxes, modelling lights only, one was gelled with minus green and the other with steel blue. We wanted a dream like quality for this band photography, so I used continuous lighting and a slow shutter. I then stretched the background in post to accommodate the Spotify banner size.
The settings were: 50mm f4 ISO 800.
Chris Hawkins recently played the guys on 6 Music, you can listen to their music on bandcamp
